Archives pedagogy lesson: Making charters
“To make it more authentic so that everybody observes it duly…”
Duration: 60–80 minutes
Target group: ages 10–14
Group size: maximum 30 people
The aim of the lesson is that students in groups of 3-6 – after an introductory lesson – make their own charters and seal it with their own seal stamp.

1. From the formular parts of the charter they choose the variants they like and joining them they can compile the text of the charter.

2.a. Writing a charter: They take turns to write the text of the compiled charter with a quill or reed pen and ink on tanned paper.

2.b. Carving seal stamps: Making the seal stamp by linocutting, and

3. Sealing the charter with the stamp.
